After three weeks of dedicated care at the WFFT wildlife hospital, Wang, a wild long-tailed macaque from a local temple, successfully recuperated and was released back to his habitat.
Laurel… The story of a Loris looking for some heat!
Let us introduce you Laurel, the male Sunda slow loris (Nycticebus coucang) who was found by people in their car engine about 1 hour from the WFFT Wildlife Rescue Centre.
This species is a Thailand native, they usually live in the South of the country, with recent cooler weather, it looks like our little friend decided to go inside a car engine where he could warn up. It is pretty common for small animals like lorises to go close to heat sources to get warm up.
The species is listed as “Vulnerable” on the IUCN Red List. The pet trade market is the biggest immediate threat to this species, the loss of their habitat also causes major problems.
We will keep you updated.
