New Rescue: Coconut Monkey Khai Nui

Last week, we took in Khai Nui, a young coconut monkey, as an urgent rescue. Pig-tailed macaques like him are often stolen from the wild and “trained” to harvest coconuts. When Khai Nui was no longer wanted, we offered him a second chance at life at the WFFT sanctuary.

Khai Nui has received a thorough health check, and his metal collar and bell were removed. He is now quarantined in our hospital, receiving nutritious food and decompressing.

We urgently need your help to provide Khai Nui with the continued veterinary care and safe space he deserves to begin healing from his trauma.

We must raise €2,500 to cover Khai Nui’s immediate care and give him a safe future. This is just the beginning. We are still far from our fundraising goal to create the first spacious open fields where rescued coconut monkeys like him can finally live in peace.

Each rescued monkey needs:

  • Health checks and vaccinations
  • Medicine and nutritious food
  • Experienced carers
  • A safe, spacious enclosure

This care costs at least €2,000–3,000 per monkey. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to a future where no coconut monkey is left chained and forgotten.
