Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release – Duan’s Story

A second chance for Duan: from critical care to freedom (WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES BELOW)

Earlier this month, a poor long-tailed macaque named Duan arrived at our sanctuary as an emergency case. He’d been viciously attacked by other monkeys, suffering horrific wounds that required intensive care and stitches all over his body and head. It’s truly a miracle he survived.

But thanks to the skill and dedication of our vet team — and the compassion of supporters like you — Duan’s recovery has been nothing short of remarkable. In just a few weeks, he went from fighting for his life to regaining his strength and spirit.

We’re overjoyed to share that just a few days ago, Duan was released back into the wild where he belongs.

Long-tailed macaques are an endangered species, with populations steadily declining across their range. That’s why every single animal returned to nature matters so much.

Duan’s story could have ended very differently. But because of your generosity, he got the second chance he deserved.

Let’s keep saving and changing more lives together.
