Rescued tigers Yod Yha and Yanisa successfully matched
We have some heartwarming news to share from our sanctuary. Two of our rescued tigers, Yanisa and Yod Yha, have recently taken a huge step forward. They’ve been successfully integrated!
This milestone is especially moving when you consider where they came from. Yanisa and Yod Yha were both rescued from appalling captive conditions on a tiger farm here in Thailand in late 2023. For two whole decades, these magnificent animals lived lives of unimaginable deprivation. Each was confined alone in a barren concrete cell, with nothing to stimulate their senses or allow them to express natural tiger behaviours. No grass underfoot, no trees to rub against, no fresh air to roam through. Just the cold, hard walls of their cages and a monotonous daily routine that stretched on for years.
When they first arrived at WFFT, Yanisa and Yod Yha were understandably cautious and unsure. Decades of neglect had taken a serious toll, both physically and mentally.
Over the past year, our team has worked carefully to introduce them to one another. It was a slow, deliberate process designed to build trust and minimise stress. It started with them simply seeing and smelling each other from a safe distance, then progressing to short supervised interactions.
Now, after many months, we’re overjoyed to share that these two tigers have formed a genuine bond. They can often be seen lounging in the grass side by side, swimming and exploring their spacious enclosure together, or just relaxing in each other’s presence. For animals who spent so long in isolation, this companionship is a gift.
Their transformation is nothing short of extraordinary. And it’s only possible because of compassionate people like you. Our supporters have given Yanisa and Yod Yha the chance to live out their days surrounded by nature, free from fear and cruelty, and with the priceless comfort of friendship.
Thank you for making stories like this possible. Together, we’re giving these animals not just a second chance, but the life they’ve always deserved.
