Upate on “Joker” the attacked macaque

Joker is recovering well, lost one leg

Joker, the temple macaque rescued in June after being savaged by dogs on the end of his chain is recovering well after amputation of his injured leg and tail. Several weeks of intensive medical treatment failed to save the severely damaged leg and the decision was made to proceed with amputation as a last resort. Joker’s facial injuries have healed well leaving behind his trademark ‘joker’ scar and he is receiving a daily cocktail of strong pain killers after the amputation surgery. Joker is already climbing and adapting to his disabilities and once healed in a few weeks he can be introduced to a new macaque family at WFFT.
