When a WFFT staff member spotted a lost loris, we sprung into action to get him back where he belongs. Read all about it here.
Celebrating Seven Years Since Thong’s Rescue!
Before her journey to WFFT on the 25th of April 2018, the beautiful and critically endangered white-cheeked gibbon, Thong, endured a life of neglect and hardship.
For 10 long years, she was confined to a cramped cage perched atop a growing mound of garbage. Plastic bottles, used for drinking, were never removed, causing the pile of trash beneath her to steadily rise into a mountain.
As arboreal creatures, gibbons like Thong thrive in lush, tree-filled environments where they can swing freely and enjoy ample space—opportunities she was cruelly denied.
Today, Thong enjoys life on one of our gibbon islands. She shares this newfound freedom with her cherished companion, Joey—who was rescued from very poor conditions at a zoo. Whilst in the wild it’s unlikely that two female gibbons would partner up, Thong and Joey are our first female gibbon couple at WFFT! They are two very special gibbons.
Just €13 per month can feed a rescued gibbon like Thong or Joey. Will you consider making a monthly gift that truly changes lives?
