Shot Numerous Times, This Determined Deer Still Managed to Escape Poachers
WFFT welcomes a resilient deer who made a miraculous escape from poachers.
Park rangers discovered the injured Sambar deer at Kaeng Krachan National Park, which borders the Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces and is known as Thailand’s largest national park.
Officials from the Department of National Parks contacted WFFT for help with the veterinary care of the deer, thanks to our renowned wildlife hospital and its proximity to the national park.
The difficult decision was made to amputate the heavily-injured leg.
At the sanctuary, the deer, who we’ve named Sandee, can now roam freely in our protected forest areas alongside other rescue animals.

กวางป่าที่เพศเมียตัวนี้ชื่อว่า “แสนดี” แสนดีได้ตกเป็นเหยื่อของการพยายามล่าในเขตอุทยานแห่งชาติแก่งกระจาน โดยเจ้าหน้าที่อุทยานฯ พบว่า กวางป่าตัวนี้ได้รับบาดเจ็บจากการถูกยิงที่ขาจำนวนหลายนัด เจ้าหน้าที่กรมอุทยานฯ ได้ประสานให้มูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่ารับไว้ดูแลอาการบาดเจ็บ และรักษาบาดแผลจากกระสุนปืนโดยทีมสัตวแพทย์ของมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่าที่โรงพยาบาลสัตว์ของมูลนิธิฯ
แต่โชคไม่ดีเท่าที่ควรที่ทีมสัตวแพทย์ เมื่อทีมสัตวแพทย์มีความจำเป็นต้องตัดขาหน้าข้างที่ถูกยิงออกหนึ่งข้าง ซึ่งเท่ากับว่า “แสนดี” จะไม่สามารถกลับไปใช้ชีวิตในป่าได้ดังเดิม
ขณะนี้ “แสนดี” ได้มีชีวิตใหม่อย่างดีร่วมกับเพื่อนกวาง และฝูงนกยูง ภายใต้การดูแลของเจ้าหน้าที่ และทีมสัตวแพทย์ของเราเป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว
ในนามมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่า ขอแสดงความชื่นชม และขอบคุณเจ้าหน้าที่อุทยานแห่งชาติ ที่ทำงานร่วมกับเรา เร่งให้การช่วยเหลือ และฟื้นฟูคุณภาพชีวิตของ “แสนดี” กวางป่าสายพันธุ์ที่อ่อนแอเช่นนี้เป็นอย่างดี

Our Mission
WFFT is one of South East Asia’s largest animal sanctuaries and cares for over 700 animals. The sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates captive wild animals, and offers a forever home to those who cannot safely be returned to the wild.
The charity also focuses on raising awareness of wildlife conservation and animal exploitation by educating tourists and local communities on the urgent issues facing animals today.
