The Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand, or WFFT, home to more than 800 rescued animals, had planned to celebrate its 20th anniversary on 1 May. Instead, we may be shutting many gates for the last time.
I-Love-Phants Lodge soft opening
An ethical alternative to elephant tourism
For many years we have been contacted by Thai and foreign supporters and tourists alike, asking if instead of volunteering it would be possible to visit the WFFT wildlife rescue centre and stay overnight. In the past we did not think it was possible to arrange this kind of eco-tourism, but with the help from our long-term supporters in Sydney, Australia we are now opening up an ethical alternative to elephant tourism in Thailand, a visit to our newly built eco-lodge the “I-Love-Phants Lodge”….
This brand new lodge is built next to our open wild elephant enclosure of 7 hectares, with the balconies looking over the semi-wild rescued elephants. All rooms are designed to be natural looking and eco-friendly with water supply from a well and electricity from solar-power.
The lodge is small, with only 5 spacious rooms, some with air-conditioning, to keep it original and exclusive. We offer full-board until the end of 2016 at a special low price, as we consider this period till December 2016 a soft-opening.
If you always wanted to visit WFFT and stay overnight with elephants in front of your room, this is the time to check us out. And don’t forget; your wake up call will be the singing of nearby living gibbons!
