Eye surgery and relief for Tiger, Rambo

Rambo epitomises resilience. Rescued from Phuket Zoo in 2022 after enduring 19 years of neglect in a cramped concrete cage, he arrived at WFFT already blind in one eye and suffering from major dental issues due to poor diet and lack of veterinary care.

Recently, Rambo faced a new challenge with the development of an ulcer in his already blind eye. Under the expertise of a visiting specialist surgeon, his eye was removed to alleviate the issue. Despite his age and the inherent risks, Rambo recovered well from the surgery and will recuperate in his night enclosure until the wound heals completely.

As an ageing tiger, health issues are not uncommon for Rambo. Late last year, he underwent major dental surgery as well.

At our sanctuary, we are honoured to provide Rambo with the veterinary care, support, and love he deserves. None of what we do for our rescued animals would be possible without supporters like you.
