After three weeks of dedicated care at the WFFT wildlife hospital, Wang, a wild long-tailed macaque from a local temple, successfully recuperated and was released back to his habitat.
Monkey shot by poachers gets rescued
Quick rescue goes well
We received a male long-tailed macaque today that was shot by poachers in a forest near Petchburi city. The monkey was found shot in its leg and the open wound was severely infected. Villagers nearby did see the macaque over the last three days and this morning alerted our foundation once the did see the still bleeding wound on its leg.
We have picked up the monkey and performed urgent surgery right away. The monkey will need several days, if not a week, to recover. After recovery he will be released back tot he wild.
