WFFT Signs Historic Partnership with Thai Wildlife Department to Help Wildlife
WFFT is thrilled to announce its first official collaboration with the Thai government’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation (DNP), an agency of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
On 22nd September, WFFT’s president Jansaeng “Noi” Sangnanork and founder Edwin Wiek both attended an official ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding, known as an MoU, between WFFT and the DNP to collaborate for an initial duration of five years.
This partnership marks a huge milestone in the fight to protect Thailand’s wildlife, and carries potential to strengthen the working relationship between the government and WFFT – this is hugely important for our work, as together, we are stronger and are able to help more animals than ever before.
As part of the MoU, WFFT and the DNP will cooperate to help wildlife and this could include our team helping the government to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured wild animals. Our team of wildlife experts and veterinary professionals have been helping wildlife for over two decades, and we are honoured to now share our expertise and experience with the government’s wildlife department.
The two parties will also share academic knowledge relating to the treatment, surveillance, and management of wildlife, which will help expand our joint understanding of wildlife health and welfare.
WFFT will also help support the wildlife authorities in helping to find humane solutions to deal with human-wildlife conflicts. This will initially focus on an initiative to help local communities coexist with wildlife including urban macaques, and work on solutions for suitable relocation under proper animal welfare conditions.

เรื่องใหม่ที่น่าตื่นเต้นของมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่าของเราแบบที่ไม่เคยทำมาก่อน
เราตื่นเต้นมาก ๆ ที่จะประกาศความร่วมมืออย่างเป็นทางการครั้งแรกกับกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติ สัตว์ป่า และพันธุ์พืช หรือ DNP ซึ่งเป็นหน่วยงานของกระทรวงทรัพยากรธรรมชาติและสิ่งแวดล้อม ของไทย
เมื่อวันที่ 22 กันยายน ที่ผ่านมา ประธานกรรมการมูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่า คุณจันทร์แสง แสงนานอก (น้อย) และ ผู้ก่อตั้งมูลนิธิ คุณเอ็ดวิน วีค ได้ลงนามบันทึกความร่วมมืออย่างเป็นทางการหรือที่เรียกว่า MOU ระหว่าง มูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่า และ กรมอุทยานแห่งชาติฯ เพื่อร่วมกันช่วยเหลือสัตว์ป่าเป็นระยะเวลา 5 ปี
ความร่วมมือครั้งนี้ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการช่วยเหลือเพื่อปกป้องสัตว์ป่าของไทย และการได้ทำงานร่วมกับรัฐบาล ถือเป็นสิ่งสำคัญอย่างยิ่งสำหรับงานของเรา เราสามารถช่วยเหลือสัตว์ป่าที่ต้องการความช่วยเหลือได้มากขึ้น
ในฐานะที่เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของบันทึกข้อตกลง MOU มูลนิธิเพื่อนสัตว์ป่ากับกรมอุทยานแห่งชาติฯ จะร่วมมือกันเพื่อช่วยเหลือสัตว์ป่า และอาจรวมถึงทีมของเราที่มีส่วนช่วยเหลือรัฐบาลในการช่วยเหลือ ฟื้นฟู และปล่อยสัตว์ป่าที่ได้รับบาดเจ็บ เรามีทีมผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านสัตว์ป่า และทีมสัตวแพทย์ ที่คอยช่วยเหลือสัตว์ป่ามานานกว่า2 ทศวรรษ เรารู้สึกเป็นเกียรติที่ได้แชร์ความรู้และประสบการณ์ของเราให้ กับทีมดูแลสัตว์ป่าของรัฐบาล
นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายจะช่วยกันเผยแพร่ความรู้ทางวิชาการ ที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการตรวจ รักษา การป้องกัน การเฝ้าระวัง และการจัดการด้านสุขภาพและสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ป่า
นอกจากนี้มูลนิธิของเราจะช่วยหาแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาความขัดแย้งระหว่างสัตวป่ากับประชาชนให้เป็นไปอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ในขั้นต้นเราจะมุ่งเน้นไปที่ความคิดริเริ่มเพื่อช่วยให้ชุมชนท้องถิ่นอยู่ร่วมกับสัตว์ป่ารวมถึงลิงแสมในเมือง และดำเนินการแก้ไขปัญหาสำหรับการย้ายถิ่นฐานที่เหมาะสมภายใต้สภาพสวัสดิภาพสัตว์ที่เหมาะสม
