Pun has endured a lifetime of heartbreak. Exploited as a breeding elephant, her babies were taken from her again and again. In 2015, WFFT rescued Pun and one of her daughters before their cruel captors could separate them. Sadly, her daughter passed away a few years ago, and since then Pun has struggled to find companionship again.
After years of loss and sadness, she now finds it difficult to trust others and is frightened of other elephants. But with time, patience, and the right environment, that could change.
We want to build Pun a new, much larger enclosure – a safe, natural space where she can begin to rediscover what it means to be an elephant. With the right introduction, she may even form a friendship with another rescued elephant and find the comfort and companionship we know she yearns for and deserves.
