Currently we run the following projects:

The Wildlife Rescue Center:

Our Wild Animal Rescue Center is located behind Kao Look Chang Temple in the Petchaburi province, approximately 160 kilometers south of Bangkok . This sanctuary is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals previously exploited as pets or used for profit within the tourist inustry. Most of the animals residing at our sanctuary were maltreated before they arrived here, suffering from abuse, malnutrition, neglect and improper care.  Many of the animals arrive with permanent disabilities and hence, cannot be returned to the wild. Our mission is to give these animals the best quality of life possible in captivity, whether here or at any other sanctuary. We’ve completed construction of seven gibbon islands, allowing the gibbons to move about freely, to establish territories and mates, and to live a life as close as possible to a life in the wild. Fundraising for a next even bigger island is in the works but we need your help to make this happen!

The Mobile Wildlife Clinic

A fully equipped mobile clinic, the only one in Indo-China! This mobile wildlife clinic project started early 2006 and has proven very successful in only a few months. The clinic's equipment and specially designed interior was sponsored by Care for The Wild International.

The Gibbon Rehabilitation Center:

A large percentage of wild animals brought in to the rescue center are gibbons, a small ape native to some parts of Thailand . This animal is an endangered primate and we currently run a rehabilitation program with the aim of allowing these beautiful creatures to return to the wild in the future.

The Elephant Education Center:

Thailand has a rapidly declining number of wild elephants remaining which are greatly outnumbered by their captive con-specifics. The elephant has been used in the past to assist in logging, however since the commercial ban on logging came into effect nowadays they walk  the streets of big cities to beg for food. The Wildlife Friends offer refuge and a sustainable existence to some of these elephants. Animal lovers get a chance to work directly with these magnificent creatures and learn about them in a hands on capacity.

The Educational Project:

One of the Wildlife Friends most important objectives is the education of the local community. An educational center about Thailand 's' wildlife containing information about animal welfare and conservation issues is located at the center.  A school program is is being implemented whereby volunteers visit schools to teach about wildlife conservation and animal welfare. Groups of students of all ages visit the jungle with Wildlife Friends staff and volunteers to learn more about life in Thailand 's rainforests.
