She is here!!! Nam Fon returns to WFFT

We have decided to transport Nam Pon to WFFT but are still raising funds to permanently secure her abuse free future at the WFFT Elephant Refuge. Thank you for all the supporters of this campaign so far.

Nam Fon is a 45-year-old elephant that has spent most of her life being used to carry tourists at various elephant camps. It is most likely that she was poached from the wild as an infant, witnessing her mother and other herd members butchered and then sold on into the logging industry, and later into the tourist industry. She has been at elephant camps giving rides to tourists each day for the last 5 years. The camp in which she came from is notoriously known as an abusive place for elephants.

During her time previously at WFFT Nam Fon became a close friend to Pai Lin, Somboon and, a then infant, Khan Kluey, all three of which are still at the refuge. We are hopeful that she will once again become close friends with these elephants she has not seen for the past 6 years.

Yesterday a team of staff and volunteers set out on a mission to bring Nam Fon back to WFFT. Further discussions were made with her owners and it was decided that she could come to WFFT. She was loaded on the moving truck and made the 2-hour journey to WFFT without any problems. Upon arrival last night she was greeted from afar by two of the elephants she has previously met, Khan Kluey and Somboon, this was a special moment for all of us, elephants never forget.

Thank you again to all our supporters, we would not be able to do this without you.
